HTC Nexus One Unlocked GSM Smartphone with Android OS, 5MP Camera and Touchscreen - No Warranty - Brown

Product Description

The Google Nexus One was rumored to be a device that would revolutionize the overwhelming stronghold mobile operators have over their clients by totally bypassing carrier-voice calls and enabling users to make VoIP only calls thus freeing consumers from mobile operator s "money-grabbing" constraints. The Nexus One is built by HTC with a lot of input from Google and it runs Android 2.1. The reported changes are a touch of 3D in the app tray, a bit of WebOS gadgetry with a preview of all homescreen pages done card-style. Preloaded are Google Navigation (in the US) and the new Google Goggles, which identifies objects by using the camera and brings up relevant information. the device is not locked ad works on T-Mobile network in the US. Engadget have unearthed a report from the FCC about the Nexus One passing their tests. The interesting bit here is that it has quad-band GSM support and 1700/1900MHz 3G support, which covers T-Mobile indeed.

5Gingerbread OTA Received Immediately
By Cheeks
My only reservation in ordering the nexus one was due to the few reviews I had read that describe difficulties with getting the latest version of Android onto the phone. I need not have worried as the update to Gingerbread was already downloading over the air almost as soon as I had switched on the phone.Delivery was preternaturally fast, and the phone works out of the box with my t-mobile prepaid sim. I am able to order their pay as you go daily web pass for data usage via t-mobile's m.web2go.com/myaccount/ page on the phone's browser.I have tried out various smartphones and the nexus one seems to equal or exceed those phones' capabilities. My impression is that the only problem that kept the original 'google phone' from becoming wildly popular was the high price for an unsubsidized, unlocked device. The price now 18 months after the nexus one's launch is phenomenal, considering the phone you are getting for that price.

1check its problems before buying it.
By A. Bahhary
Before buying this nice phone you have to check out the problems people having with this CRAZY phone. I personally have same problems everybody who own it have. Power button does not work after couple of months, so you cannot power on the phone neither lock/unlock screen using it. Screen goes crazy, it does not know anymore where you touching it. You click somewhere and the phone is responding to something else. While texting, if you click the letter "t" that's the "b" or the "n" that shows up. Be aware, there's no fix because these are hardware issues.

5Amazing Device.
By Benavente Ignacio
As a phone it has everything it needs to have.As a smartphone lacks some features, but hey! it only costs U$S 260 for year-and-a-half-old model (@ July 2011). If you want more power, more bandwidth, better 3G features, front camera, buy another smartphone... with its U$S 160 to 500 increment ;).The touchscreen works perfectly, no missed calls, no missing files, zero problem. Very recommendable. This review was about the phone not the OS, so the only two things I will say about the OS is the following:1) no trouble upgrading to Android 2.3.4. (Nice and easy: only one touch).2) Take your time navigating Android Market or another application market for Android. Its mindblowing the offer they have for both paid and free applications. 10 points for Android Community!
