1Increasing problems, no resolution from HTC, this phone IS A DUD
By D. B. Spalding
I have to amend my review of the Amaze after owning it for 11 months. HTC's update to Android 4.0.3 (Ice Cream Sandwich) has broken WiFi so that it fails to connect to corporate access points. They have had increasing complaints about Bluetooth connectivity with in-car systems. I've found that HTC's proprietary software makes "Android beaming" with a straight Android tablet largely futile. The worst problem: my Amaze locks up and reboots, or shuts itself off without reason, several times a month. This is unacceptable in a mobile device, particularly one based on the Linux kernel.Yes, it exhibits these problems even after a factory reset and not updating any applications.T-Mobile and HTC have made excuses for several months, and left customers with phones that only partly deliver on the marketing. Now I'm stuck with a crappy phone, proprietary HDMI adapter that I can't use with another phone, and several charge cables which are likewise specific to this phone.I will never buy another HTC device again. Never.

5WE LOVE OUR HTC AMAZE PHONES!!
By joo
After 3-4 different BlackBerry models, my wife and I decided we wanted to get something that was a little more versatile. The Amaze had the latest 1.5 GHz Dual Core Processor with 1 GHz of RAM, an 8 mp camera and was T-Mobile's top of the line Android so we chose the best of the best! As it stated, it was an extremely fast phone with plenty of versatility but... What we didn't anticipate was the battery life that it takes to do all of those really cool things compared to our old, battery miser BlackBerries! Once we learned how to manage our battery life by turning off options we weren't using - and bought external battery chargers to keep with us so that we didn't have to just pretend like our phone could do this and that but never use them to make batteries last... WE LOVE THEM!! We tried LG G2x's before these and they were junk compared to HTC's technology and user friendly layout!!

4Great Device - Hefty Price Tag
By Ron Lunsford
When you consider buying a handset out of contract, the $400-700 price tag can be quite a shocker. HTC has really done an amazing job with the Amaze 4G, but it is already out-shined, out-classed and out-done by the recently announced HTC One series devices. That said, the Amaze features plenty of internal storage, a great camera, a beautiful display and is everything one could want in an Android powered smartphone. The exterior design is gorgeous and it operates on the fastest 3+G network in the country with T-Mobile. Unfortunately, the unlocking really doesn't do much good to those in the US as T-Mobile's 3G/4G network uses specific frequencies that AT&T and other rivals cannot use. The only real carrier option besides T-Mo is SIMPLE Mobile and their $60 a month prepaid option. This is the sort of device that shines on the AWS frequencies though, so it's definitely worth a solid look if you need to replace an Android device out of contract on T-Mobile.In 2-4 months, the Amaze will be a freebie device on contract and quite a steal. The non-contract/unlocked version will still set you back $300-400 and be worth every penny. For now, T-Mobile offers a great prepaid device for $200 in the Samsung Exhibit II 4g [...] that will easily power you through the next year and doesn't set you back 4 or 5 Ben Franklins.
